Karah McNamara, Stylist & Owner
As a hairstylist of nearly two decades, a Clinical Mental Health Counseling Master’s Student, and a parent to two young kiddos, I recognize the intersection where all these identities meet or, perhaps, collide. I recall my postpartum period as misty, devastating, magical, and frightening (on only a couple hours of sleep at a time.) I also remember not simply losing myself, but wondering where I was hiding within myself. I am committing my studies to a specialization in Perinatal Mental Health and my work as a hairstylist to the perinatal community. If you’re looking for a safe space to move closer to whatever this version of yourself looks like, at any given moment, I would be honored to hold that space and provide even a little bit of self-care …when it may be the last thing on a new mother’s mind. If any of this resonates with you or you simply need a trim and want to stay home, please reach out for a free phone or in-person consultation. I look forward to supporting and styling the “you” that you are today while welcoming the “you” in the moments and months to come.
To address my salient identities, I want to acknowledge that I am a white, able-bodied, married, gender expansive 36-year-old master’s student and mother to two kiddos, one of which lives with a rare genetic disorder - so a big part of my identity is “parent to a child with unique medical needs.”
I am also an avid knitter and crocheter. It is a big part of my identity and a passion of mine! I love all things Irish and Scandinavian, I dabble in yoga (to offset all the sitting and knitting), and have a bit of a caffeine problem. (Is it really a problem though?!)
